About Kris...
Meet Kris…
Kris Hicks is an entrepreneur and video producer with additional expertise in photography, music clearance and placements. She is also the Executive Producer of Rhythm And Views Productions, a multi-faceted entertainment company seeks to produce visual works that serve and inspire people of color and women globally.
Learning from the ground up, Kris’ experience in entertainment began as a college intern in the Office of the General Manager, NBA Superstar Michael Jordan, and NBA legend, Wes Unseld of the Washington Wizards franchise. A few additional internships and the invitation to participate in the NBC Page Program in Burbank, CA, gave Kris the opportunity to learn the inner workings of television production, music, and product placement.
Her skills broadened to include live video and still photo shoots, branding, concert production, VIP talent booking and handling, and on-air marketing - inclusive of promo writing, and production. She also learned to manage television and film music clearances and placements (promo, main title, and in-show performances), allowing her to work with television producers, music artists, publishers, and record labels of all music genres globally.
In addition to her work experience with entities such as NBC Universal, MGM Worldwide, and the Discovery Networks (including Discovery Channel, TLC, I.D., OWN, and more), Kris is an honor graduate from Johnson C. Smith University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts. She furthered her studies in Communications and Entertainment at California State University, Fullerton, where she obtained her Master of Arts degree with honors.
Her thesis, a documentary entitled Yvette Lee Bowser: Strength In The Struggle, highlighted the accomplishments of producer, Yvette Lee Bowser (Living Single, Half & Half), other African American female producers in television, and shed light on the thirst for diverse representation in front of and behind the camera. Inspired by watching Lee and other African American Showrunners including the late Eunetta Boone and pioneers, Sara Finney Johnson, Meg Deloatch and Shonda Rhimes, Kris formed Rhythm And Views Productions in 2014.
After 13 plus years of working for major television, film, and entertainment companies, Kris now uses Rhythm And Views Productions as an avenue to provide creative services to diverse clients nationwide, ranging from non-profits and government agencies to major television and film companies.
Armed with a motivational management style and imagination, Kris’ has most recently worked on productions with Circle TV, OWN Network, Black Entertainment Television (BET), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM), music supervisor Kurt Farquhar, Madison Hospitality, the Institute for Federal Diversity & Inclusion, R&B artists, Keyshia Cole and Chrisette Michele, violinist Chelsey Green and the Green Project, and Gospel Artists, Richard Smallwood, Jonathan Nelson, Kierra “Ki-Ki” Sheard, among others. Additionally, she manages gospel powerhouse, Chanda Brown-Wilson Sandidge.
Rhythm And Views Productions was created to aid in diversifying production, particularly for people of color and women. Complemented with a creative storytelling background necessary for various productions, Kris has created a professional name for herself and seeks to become the “go-to” video producer, known for perfect music placements that enhance one’s visual experience.
